Teaching the Art of Stepping™ through Mathematical Formulas

AOS Joins NYC Summer Streets 2015!

Posted on: July 28th, 2015

2015-summer-streetsNew York, New York… July 28, 2015 – Art of Stepping is excited to announce its participation in Summer Streets in New York City on Saturday, August 8 on 26th and Park Avenue at 12:00pm – 12:30pm.

Summer Streets, project by the NYC Department of Transportation, is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. On three consecutive Saturdays in August, nearly seven miles of NYC’s streets are opened for people to play, run, walk and bike. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.

“We are excited to be teaching our signature dance program through mathematics to our community”, said Jessica Saul, Founder of the Art of Stepping. “We are ready to get our community active through dance with a New York twist”.

Summer Streets is modeled on other events from around the world including Ciclovía in Bogotá, Colombia and the Paris Plage in France. The event is part bike tour, part walking tour, part block party—a great time for exercise, people watching, or just enjoying summer mornings. Passersby are welcome to participate in arts and crafts workshops, listen to musical performances, learn to salsa dance but most importantly learn how to step.

Held between 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City, allowing participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.
